About

Locating past legal cases can be time consuming, confusing and incomplete if searched for in the wrong places. Both in-depth and comprehensive, the Canadian Insurance Law Blog is the premier database and index for all cases involving insurance laws in Canada. Created in 2004 by Mike Thomas of Harper Grey LLP, the blog contains easy-to-navigate case databases and indexed archives that are organized by jurisdiction, type of insurance and topic.

Mike practices personal injury, health and insurance law. He represents both insured's and insurance companies and specializes in representing clients who may have sustained a brain injury. His insurance practice is focused on the 3E's - Excess insurance, Extra jurisdictional issues, and Ethical obligations. Flexible and comfortable in the courtroom, he is willing to litigate for trials on a moment's notice. In his personal time, Mike is a pilot and an avid swimmer.

In 2011 Mike expanded the Canadian Insurance Law Blog by adding four contributing authors. Each of the authors is a practicing insurance lawyer with Harper Grey LLP:

Jonathan Meadows has significant experience in complex construction disputes. He represents insurance companies and their insured's in claims brought against them for personal injury and property loss, provides coverage advice to insurers on a broad range of issues including environmental matters, misrepresentation, failure to cooperate, intentional and criminal acts, arson and bad faith. He is an accomplished musician who plays in a variety of bands.

Emily Williamson has a general insurance practice with an interest in property damage and fire claims, as well as insurance coverage issues. She is conversant in French and is an avid runner.

Daniel Reid has a general insurance practice with an interest in defamation claims and information dissemination issues. He worked in radio and television prior to obtaining his law degree.

Ryan Irving joined Harper Grey LLP as an associate in June 2011. He is building a general insurance practice. He was a fishing guide in the Queen Charlotte Islands prior to obtaining his law degree.
